The third workshop of the NRAS was held at the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal in October 2014 with the theme “Studying the Rural”. This workshop saw growing participation by scholars from many social science disciplines in bring multiple theoretical perspectives on pressing issues such as natural resource conflicts, caste and identity, role of the state, rural employment and migration. The NRAS also held a Mentoring Initiative in association with its third workshop, where junior and senior scholars of the group mentored select young researchers from regional and peri-urban academic and other research institutions in a half-day workshop.
